Yee-haw, y’all! AAMC nurses attend a very special Magnet Conference.

Each year, AAMC nurses attend the Magnet® conference. We learn more about evidence-based nursing practice and ways to achieve excellent patient outcomes, excellent patient satisfaction, and an excellent nursing practice environment. This year’s conference was held in Dallas, Texas – home of cowboy boots and mechanical bulls.

Each year we come back saying, “Wow, that was a great conference.” But this year was special.

This year, for the first time, it was announced that AAMC was a Magnet designated organization.

Twenty-five AAMC nurses waited expectantly for that announcement. When we heard our name over the loudspeaker, we paraded around the conference center, showing our enthusiasm and excitement for this tremendous honor!

Of course, in true AAMC fashion, our procession included glowing accessories, thunder sticks for noise making, and a banner, proudly displayed, which read, “AAMC Nurses Rock.”

Thank you nurses for all you do – AAMC Nurses DO rock!  There are 25 nurses at AAMC with new knowledge from the conference which we will use to continue to achieve excellent outcomes – ask a conference goer!  -Holly Greever, RN
