Developed Care Delivery Model presentation to help educate staff on patient and family-centered care during staff meetings—starting in December.

Encouraged patient- and family-centered care (PFCC) movement, saw this in bedside shift report and changing visitation practices in some units.

Continue to develop AAMC’s nursing professional practice model around PFCC.

Patient/Family Advisory Council continues to be consulted on improving way-finding and signage on existing campus and in the new tower.

Thank you to all those who donated to the Thanksgiving Basket Drive! We had approximately 80 units/departments throughout AAHS prepare 106 baskets. The Light House staff tells us that we impacted about 750 people. THANK YOU!

Thank you to the eight volunteers who assisted with the Flu Vaccine Clinic at Light House, donating time over two days to vaccinate clients and staff.

Our AAMC clothing line has a new vendor. To celebrate we will be selling these items in the cafeteria on Wednesday, Dec. 1, 7 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Monday, Dec. 20, 7 a.m. – 3 p.m. Payroll deduction available!

The 2011 Health Education Class Schedule is available for sign up – contact Emily Groves (egroves@aahs.org) to find a class or screening you’d like to teach at the Light House.

Stay tuned for updates regarding the Client Advocate role at the Light House nursing-run clinic. This role will assist clients of Light House by assessing and prioritizing their health needs and helping them to access those resources available to them.

Thanks for Tina from Food Services who participated in Bountiful Harvest with food supplies donated by AAMC. Two hundred fifty tickets were sold, proceeds benefitting the Light House.

Evidence-Based Nursing

Reviewed and critiqued a nursing research study written by a student for an AAHS patient population titled, “The relationship between perception of nurse caring and phase II cardiac rehabilitation patient’s depression, anxiety, and adherence.” Council goal is to review any AAMC study before it goes to IRB.
