Valerie Donaldson, MSN, RN, CNOR, helps bring technology to the bedside

Valerie Donaldson, MSN, RN, CNOR, is an OR charge nurses in the Edwards Surgical Center and has recently received her Master’s degree in Nursing Informatics from Walden University.

Because the health care system is directly impacted by the growth of technology, Valerie wanted a better understanding of the new technology that is becoming commonplace in the clinical setting. One area of special interest: online resources at the bedside.

Valerie recently presented a poster, Mosby Integration Plan: Phase 1, at her induction to Sigma Theta Tau International, Phi Nu Chapter. For this project, she and Joyce Becker, MSN, RN, CNOR, RN-C, explored how providing online access to Mosby’s Nursing Skills at the bedside supports evidence-based practice. She also developed and incorporated Mosby reference material to teach educators to facilitate the use of this technology for nursing staff. Way to go, Valerie!

How has technology at AAMC enabled you to give excellent patient care? Tell us about it here.
