Thank you, Materials Management, for making our jobs easier!

For the past 17 years that I’ve been a nurse, I’ve been like the urban kid buying an apple at the corner market – completely forgetting that there was once a tree, a farmer, and a delivery truck involved. As a nurse I knew what supplies I needed and where to locate them. If by chance the item wasn’t there, I knew a number to call to request it. Within minutes, the item would appear in the tube system and off I’d go, never pausing to consider the hard work and dedicated team involved in making it happen:

• Value Analysis crew making sure we have the best products
• Buyers negotiating supplies and contracts
• Loading Dock team tracking numerous shipments each day
• Store Room staff distributing millions of items throughout the campus

As we celebrate Materials Management week October 7 – 13^th, please take a moment to thank the workers whose hard work is the reason we are able to do ours.
