Take time for yourself with mindfulness
The definition of Mindfulness is paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, non-judgmentally.
Mindfulness means learning how to have a moment-by-moment awareness of our thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and surrounding environment, through a gentle, nurturing lens. When we practice mindfulness, we bring our mind to experiencing the present moment rather than rehashing the past or worrying about the future.
Think of Mindfulness as a vacation for your brain. By learning how to practice mindfulness, you can reduce stress sensations, have better relationships and reduce anxiety. (Plenty of Research on this!)
The heart pumps blood to itself first. What happens in the time between heartbeats.
Before contracting and sending blood to the rest of the body, the heart relaxes and fills with blood. For the heart to work and nourish the whole body, it must relax.
Like our hearts, we need “me time”. We need to take time out of our everyday lives to relax, regain our strength, and nourish ourselves.
Whenever you find yourself thinking twice about making and taking time for yourself, remember:The heart pumps blood to itself first.(Gina Biegel, author of Stress Relief for Teenagers)
