Here’s how Jennifer Smell MSN, RN, CCRN, Clinical Manager, Pediatrics benefitted from a scholarship.
The scholarship money I received went straight back to help pay off my student loan. I would love to meet the donor who generously supported my education and tell them in person how much their philanthropy is appreciated. I feel privileged and honored to accept their generosity and work for an organization which supports and prioritizes continuing education. It is an honor to be selected from a competitive group.
Accomplishing my personal goal of completing my master’s degree is something I have known I should do for quite some time. I feel more accomplished as a nurse with the credentials to support my achievement. Continuing education is important for the organization in our pursuit of magnet and nursing excellence and I am proud to have contributed. The practical experience helps me every day when I manage things like our budget or other important leadership decisions. It’s actually contagious and I find others motivated to do the same. Knowing there is help and resources for staff is very reassuring.
I had the recent opportunity to visit with an old friend who I had not seen in several years. When we were catching up, I was so proud to say I have now completed my master’s degree in Nursing. When I worked with her before, she encouraged me to go back to school. It is times like these, that I am reminded of my accomplishment and am pretty proud I finally did it!
