Patient thanks AAMC staff for “incredible, courteous, thoughtful, and supportive” care
An actual letter from a thankful patient:
I am a resident of Edgewater and a 27-year Navy Veteran, during which time I had the privilege of commanding two ships. Recently, I experienced a pulmonary embolism and passed out while departing the Medical Clinic at the Naval Academy. I was subsequently transported to AAMC by ambulance and was admitted for a period of four days. The care, professionalism and courtesy I received while a patient at the hospital was superb and I wanted to pass along my gratitude to the many members of your staff who cared for me.
Dr. Kenneth Gummerson was the Emergency Room physician who cared for me and he was exceptional in orchestrating the myriad of activities surrounding my immediate care. His demeanor and personal courtesy was also very reassuring to both my wife and I.
My assigned Hospitalist was Dr. Colaco. I could not have been more comfortable and appreciative of the care I received from Dr. Colaco. I particularly admired his thoroughness in dealing with me, making sure my every question was answered and in keeping me aware of what would be happening during my stay. While I truly know that his schedule was a busy one, he never once gave me any indication other than my care was very important to him and I was far more than just an account number.
The nursing and technician staff whose paths I crossed during my stay were incredible, consummately courteous, thoughtful, and supportive of my every need. I could not have asked for better care and attention.
