Nurses are still ‘most trusted’ profession, according to Gallup poll
For the ninth straight year, nurses toppedGallup’s annual Honesty and Ethics survey, which measures how trustworthy U.S. residents consider various professions. Eighty-one percent of Americans say nurses have “very high” or “high” honesty and ethical standards, a significantly greater percentage than for the next-highest-rated professions, military officers and pharmacists (Jones, Gallup News, 12/3).
Who ranked last? Lobbyists, car salespeople, and members of Congress.
According to the president of the American Nurses Association, the ranking “makes nurses well-positioned to play a major role in the transformation of the nation’s health care system” (NurseWeek, 12/3).
