New mom thanks two special nurses: Jennifer Wallace, RN & Stacy Veney, RN
Making a difference in our patient’s lives–that’s what this nursing thing is all about. Jennifer Wallace, RN and Stacy Veney, RN shine in this patient’s Baby Story:
I am writing this letter to express my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the two nurses, Jennifer Wallace (Labor & Delivery) and Stacy Veney (Mother/Baby), who helped make my stay and the birth of my son a memorable and enjoyable experience.
My husband and I arrived at the hospital to deliver our first child via cesarean section. As any new mother, I was scared, nervous and excited, but Jennifer Wallace came into my room during pre-op and put my mind at ease. She answered all my questions and took the time to explain what was going to happen each step of the way. Much to my surprise, Jennifer also stopped by my room the day after delivery to check on my status—and her smile, warmth and presence were exactly what I needed.
She again explained what was going on with my body, my baby, and answered all the questions my family members had. I can only imagine how busy AAMC is, and the fact that Jennifer took a few moments out of her busy schedule to see how I was doing meant a lot to my husband and I.
Stacy Veney is the other nurse who made my stay at AAMC enjoyable. She was my nurse during the night shift and she took the time to teach me “mommy tricks” of the trade, such as different types of swaddling methods and to talk to me about being a new mom. Stacy’s personality was genuine, energetic and kindhearted. She always entered the room with a smile. Her bedside manner was comforting and I am truly thankful for having her as my nurse
In my experience, as a whole, nurses are underappreciated, yet they are the hardest workers in a hospital and receive the smallest praise. Jennifer and Stacy exhibited the qualities ALL nurses should aspire to have. Our family extends a heartfelt thanks to Jennifer, Stacy and to AAMC for helping to make the birth of my son one of the best experiences of my life. THANK YOU!
