Educating Our Educators

Educating Our Educators

Last Friday, AAMC’s Clinical Education & Professional Development Department hosted the seminar, Maximize Your Nurse Educator Performance, geared towards educating our nurse educators. Over 25 AAMC nurse educators from across the organization attended the day-long seminar and received six contact hours for attending.

The speaker was Diane D. DePew, DSN, RN-BC, who has dedicated 20 years to nursing education and professional development.

Nurse educators learned about developing their roles, developing continuing education programs, integrating adult learning theory and learning styles into educational planning, evaluation strategies, and the essential ethical and legal principles.

Sending one nurse educator to this conference would normally cost over $180, but using our Vittek Nursing Endowment, we were able to bring this conference on-site for much less and offer it to many more staff.

Feedback from the educators has been fantastic:

“This is such a gift!”

“You don’t know how long I’ve wanted to attend something like this.”

“I can’t believe the hospital thought to bring something like this on-site just for us.”
