Donate Life – Sign up to become an organ donor on April 25
April marked the beginning of Donate Life month and AAMC’s Organ Donor Council will be sponsoring one more day of education, along with plenty of prizes and giveaways. Visit them on:
In 2011, AAMC helped prepare three candidates for organ donation and saved 11 lives with organs from these donors. These individuals, called “designated donors,” signed up through the MVA. These are real heroes.
The Department of Health and Human Services and the American Hospital Association have partnered with our organization in collaboration with Living Legacy. Our charge is to encourage our own staff to become organ donors via the donor registry or simply by designating themselves as an organ donor on their driver’s license.
If you would like to make this commitment, bring your driver’s license to the cafeteria at the listed times on April 25 to sign up with the MVA. It only takes a minute to save a life, give someone sight, or provide needed bone or tissue to enable repair of permanent injury. We’ll be looking for you to say thanks. -Michelle Donovan, RN, Coordinator for Organ Donation
