AAMC’s Certification Social — check out the pics here (and read about Sherry’s challenge!)
Obtaining certification in your specialty area validates your expert knowledge and demonstrates that you are a leader in your field. At AAMC, we are proud to support our nurses in the certification process, as well as offer financial rewards for maintaining certification.
Here are some quick certification social facts. Did you know:
- AAMC has an impressive 380 certified nurses — nearly 1/3 of all of our nurses are certified!
- Just since last May, 105 nurses have earned their certification
- 27 of our nurses have two certifications and five nurses have three certifications—what a huge accomplishment!
Our annual Certification Social was held on Certified Nurses Day–March 19. The event kicked off with a warm welcome from President and CEO, Tori Bayless, followed by the keynote address given by our COO/CNO, Sherry Perkins. The challenge she issued to our nurses? “Let’s bring our number of certified nurses up to 500 by this time next year!”
Other highlights of this year’s certification social included two rounds of raffle giveaways and individual recognition of attendees by both Tori and Sherry. Through the generous donations of many local businesses and even some of our employees, we were able to give away 20 fabulous prizes to some very deserving nurses! This year’s certification gift was a miniature, zippered portfolio which attendees received from Sherry when their name and certification was announced. See pictures here.
For those certified nurses who could not attend the social this year, the gifts will be distributed to your department in the coming weeks.
I’d like to give a special thanks to the certification social committee (Gena Kosmides, Christine Gates, Jazmin Manlapaz, Terry Stinchcomb and Chantel Knight), Clinical Education & Professional Development, and the Doordan team for making this event such a huge success! We look forward to seeing everyone next year! -Mary Beth Tubiolo, MSN, RN-C
