You “made her last days peaceful”: heartfelt thanks to the Oncology and Palliative Care teams from a patient’s friend
A letter from a patient’s friend who witnessed, firsthand, the care and compassion offered to her friend as she neared the end of life:
I am writing to express my gratitude to the staff who took care of a dear friend who passed away recently. She was cared for on the Oncology floor, suffering from terminal lung cancer and many other complications. I was extremely impressed by the care, both physical and empathetic, that she received from her doctors, nurses and social work staff, which made her last days peaceful.
Just to highlight some of those people: Drs. Wong and Garg of her oncology group, Anna Hill, RN, Vicki Kuntz, RN, and Yulissa Brown, RN, Ashey Queen, PCT, and especially Palliative Care social worker Mary Ann Bleeke, along with many others whose names I do not remember, including a notary from Patient Advocates.
I and my family have been long time visitors to your hospital for both inpatient and outpatient services and have only positive comments to make — especially to the 2nd floor staff where both my husband and I have received back shots from Dr. Kerry Thompson. The nurses there are fantastic.
In summary I just want to again thank the hospital and staff and am very happy that you are our local resource.
