Sharing our knowledge: PACU nurses represent AAMC at national conference
Last week, two of AAMC’s PACU nurses represented AAMC at the American Society of Perianesthesia Nurses’ 35th Annual National Conference. Jennifer King, MSN, RN, CPAN, Clinical Educator for PACU, and Michelle Lusby, BSN, RN, CPAN, Charge Nurse for PACU, joined over 2,000 perianesthesia nurses from across the country in Philadelphia, PA.
Jennifer and Michelle presented the poster: Improving Throughput of Joint and Spine Patients from Phase I: A Rapid Improvement Event. They were chosen to showcase the collaborative work of the PACU and the Joint and Spine Center nurses and how their nurse-driven changes positively impacted the PACU. The poster fell under the “Celebrate Successful Practices” category. The project addressed a common throughput issue across the country – it focused on creating a timely process for transfer of patient care from PACU to Joint/Spine Center.
It was wonderful to have many conference goers stop and ask for further information about AAMC’s process improvement methods. Several nurses stopped to take pictures of the poster and asked to contact AAMC for further information.
