Mended Hearts, a peer to peer support program, is coming to AAMC
Hope — it’s what Mended Hearts, a peer to peer support program — offers to patients and families after a cardiac event. With 300 chapters and 20,000 participants throughout the United States, members listen to concerns; share experiences; and offer social, emotional and practical support to patients and their loved ones.
AAMC is committed to providing community support for patients and their families, beyond their visit here. For this reason we are partnering with Mended Hearts to bring this additional layer of assistance for our cardiac patients.
All volunteers with Mended Hearts have had a heart procedure or family member who has had one. Support begins at the bedside at AAMC, but often continues after discharge. In the upcoming months, the group will begin to host support groups and information sessions as well as offer peer to peer contact via phone calls, internet or one-on-one meetings.
