AAMC Nurses help Lighthouse residents move towards self-sufficiency
In May, members of AAMC’s Community Service Initiative (CSI) and our Charge Nurses collaborated with the Light House, our community partner, to successfully organize and arrange the first Transition to Housing project. This project supports Light House residents as they move toward self-sufficiency.
The AAMC team assisted a women and her adult son by donating items to furnish their townhouse. Eve Sage, MSN, RN, clinical director, GSU, and CSI lead, said, “We had many donations that were very much appreciated by our clients and the house was looking like a home by the time we left. We were able to provide a well-stocked kitchen, furniture and bedding for two bedrooms, and a very comfortable living area — along with gift cards for groceries and other needed home items. The clients were very happy!”
Many thank all those who participated.
A special thank you to Two Men and a Truck moving company who donated their services, and a special shout out to Susan Podolin, PR and Dawn Knebel, RN, for their dedication.
