Improving patient outcomes through safe and high-quality patient care require effective communication between all healthcare providers.

Starting May 20, 2019, RN to PCT shift communication will be required within the first hour of the start of a shift. The team will share concise information on each patient that will ensure safe and effective high-quality patient care.

Documenting in the patient’s medical records that shift communication has been completed will be the responsibility of the patient care technician. Below is a tip sheet on where you can find the location on where to document this communication.
