We have the monopoly on Evidence Based Practice

ImageWith over 200 attendees, AAMC’s third annual Evidence based Practice (EBP) Fair was huge success!

The Fair showed off some great of the Quality Improvement (QI) and EBP projects we are involved in at AAMC. There were seven Bedside Scientist Grant posters, eighteen from Quality Councils, seven new grad posters, and eight Council posters. Several schools of nursing attended, promoting higher education, as well as vendors, who were on hand to answer questions about new products used in the hospital this past year. So much to see!

Many presenters submitted their EBP and QI poster abstracts for prize consideration. Congratulations to the winners, selected by the Nursing Research Council:

  • EBP Poster: Pediatric Asthma Education, by Jamie Cinotti, RN, BSN, CPEN of the Pediatric Inpatient Unit.
  • QI Poster: Use of adaptive equipment  during hospital stay to improve independence with activities of daily living, by Michelle Wiekle, OTR/L and Cindy Dorman, COTA/L from Occupational Therapy Rehabilitation Services.

Awards were presented by Sherry Perkins and Cathaleen Ley. What an honor! View photos here.

Anyone can do an EBP project or a QI project. Get started now on your literature search for next year’s fair.  Joyce Miller, our hospital librarian, is a wealth of knowledge if you need help with a literature search.  Click here for more information about EBP.

A big thank you to the Nursing Research Council, who planned and managed the fair. It was a lot of work and the council did a tremendous job. -Cheryl Briggs, RNC-NIC

Thank you to all who participated in and attended the Fair. What a great display of how we use research evidence across the hospital.
