Tell your patients about AAMC’s Community Health Center
Nurses, share this with your patients who are on medical assistance or have no health insurance: There’s no need to go to the emergency room for basic health care. The AAMC Community Health Center (CHC) meets the needs of the uninsured and underserved by providing access to affordable primary care health care services, referrals to specialists and other health and wellness services.
The CHC is a primary care medical practice for people who are on medical assistance or who have no insurance (also known as “self pay”).
Where is the CHC located? At 1419 Forest Drive on local brown and orange bus routes.
What services as offered at the CHC?
Primary care – preventive, acute, and chronic
Consistent care through the patient’s own physician or nurse practitioner
24/7 after hours phone access
Affordable health care that is comprehensive, continuous and coordinated, from birth to geriatrics
Hours of operation: Open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. with 24/7 after-hour’s phone access at 410-990-0050. Spanish and Arabic are spoken at the clinic.
Methods of payment: “Self pay” patients are charged for services based on their income. An example of such an individual might be someone who has a full-time job, but no health insurance, or someone on unemployment who has lost health insurance. A financial advisor at the health center will help patients through the process and determine fees before the appointment. Discounted specialty care also is available under these programs and for self-pay individuals.
