One month to go! Apply for your nursing scholarship and check out Kondi’s story here

The AAMC Foundation will award eighteen $5,000 scholarships this year! Applications are now being accepted, more info here. Deadline to submit is February 13, 2013.

Here’s what Kondi Walters-Smith, a nurse on the ACE Unit, had to say about receiving a scholarship last year:

Kondi“I was sincerely honored to be selected as the recipient of the Gus and Marjorie Berlitz scholarship. To them, I say thank you for your generosity, which has allowed me to not only achieve my long term career goal of obtaining a BSN, it has also allowed me to spend more quality time with my three young children and husband. Because of your scholarship, I now feel empowered as a more qualified and educated health care provider. The knowledge and skills I have learned will propel me in my quest to become a Family Nurse Practitioner.

“Having obtained Magnet status, AAMC is now positioned to be a world class leader in providing quality care to all its patients. The scholarship awarded has paved the way for me to be an ambassador for these advances in my nursing career. I am thankful for this tremendous opportunity to learn and at the same time give back in a meaningful way both at work and in the community.

“To the Clinical Education & Professional Development team, thank you. Year after year, as your objectives align to the goal of AAMC in developing quality health care practitioners, I can see a positive difference in how care is administered. With the help of donations from supporters such as Gus and Marjorie Berlitz, I am confident that we will continue to see improvements in AAMC’s health care initiatives.

“Thanks again to everyone who made this dream of my obtaining my BSN a reality.”

Good job Kondi, and you did while expanding your family! You are a great example that a working mother can continue her education and still raise her family and feel good as a mom.
