Hands on Health: AAMC staff “show and tell” to helps kids learn
As the mom of a kindergartener who participated in Hands on Health, I was first blown away by the cuteness of it all. Look at the pictures below and you’ll understand what I’m talking about.
As a nurse, I appreciate very much the education we give these little ones during this yearly offering to our local schools. Kids learned about dealing with fear when visiting the doctor’s office, how to diaper and dress a baby, and even how use an incentive spirometer. They got to wear finger casts, pretend to give an injection (my son’s favorite) and perform a puppet’s tonsillectomy. Dr. Clemmens taught them the functions of their internal organs and the importance of wearing helmets and eating healthy food.
Thanks to the AAMC staff and volunteers who made this event possible. It was a delight to see you in action!
