Cathaleen Ley and Cindy Mueller shine at the GEM Awards
On June 11, AAMC nurses Cindy Mueller BSN, RN, (left) and Cathaleen Ley, PhD, RN, were honored as nominees for Nurse.com‘s GEM Awards. GEM stands for Giving Excellence Meaning, and these two shining stars certainly have demonstrated excellence!
Both Cindy and Cathleen were nominated for the award in Advancing and Leading the Profession, a category that recognizes nurses who are well-known and respected as visionary, innovative leaders and change agents, who move the profession forward through work in patient care administration, education or research, or strengthen it through other professional activities, endeavors or contributions.
Cindy was recognized for her role in making Critical Congenital Heart Disease screening mandatory in the state of Maryland.
Cathaleen was honored for her leadership in bringing research to the bedside and supporting AAMC nurses in putting evidence-based practice to work.
Finalists from all over Virginia, DC, and Maryland attended this event. For two of AAMC’s own to share the stage among the best in the area is a testament to the caliber of our staff. Congratulations, Cathaleen and Cindy! -Chona Hamrock, RNC-NIC
