Serving our global community: AAMC nurses travel to the jungles of Nicaragua for a medical relief mission

Evelyn Farkas, RN, and Carly Hresko, RN, both Mother Baby nurses, spent 12 days assisting a medical relief team in the jungles of Nicaragua. This particular trip was a humanitarian mission, giving aid to a community recently hit by a devastating hurricane.

“We treated the ill, we held the children, we lifted the spirits and we listened to their stories,” said Evelyn. “We shared laughter and tears. Always remembering that every ONE life matters. It only takes one person to save a life and to heal a spirit.”

I work on mother/baby with Carly and Evelyn and they work so hard to make this trip possible. Evelyn has done this for several year’s and this was Carly’s first year. I really admire their commitment to help other’s in need that we take advantage here at home. I saw some of their picture’s and to me, these people are extremely brave to travel to a 3rd world country without the luxerie’s we have here in the United State’s. The sacrifice they make is unremarkable. You are simply the best!
