Mom’s stroke “was really scary,” but grateful family thanks ED and NCU for excellent care

This letter is a good reminder to each of us that our patients and families are often working though a variety of emotions when they walk (or are brought) through our doors — past memories of losing a loved one at AAMC may affect the way they view their experience. So thank you for offering comfort to nervous families, as well as compassionate care to patients. Way to go, ED and NCU teams.

Dear Emergency Department and Neuro Care Unit – especially Jess Riffe, RN, and Dr. Charles,

Thanks so much for recently taking care of our mother. She’s 90 years old and her mild stroke, affecting her left side movement, was really scary to her four children. As our father died in your facility many years ago, coming there is especially nerve-wracking, but your staff were comforting and professional. Thanks again, we are grateful.
