After ED visit, patient writes, “Months later, I am still thinking of the professionalism I encountered” at AAMC

A patient writes in to thank two wonderful nurses and a fantastic physician, who clearly made a big impact on her experience — so much so that she is still thinking about it months later. Way to go, AAMC team!

I am writing to commend the excellent treatment I received when I was hospitalized at Anne Arundel Medical Center. The care was exceptional and that is why, many months later, I am still thinking of the professionalism I encountered when I was admitted for care.

I was taken to the Emergency Dept. with serious bleeding. I had already been in and out of another hospital a few days previously with the same ailment and, from previous tests, already knew I had a mass.

It was an extremely busy night with many emergencies, but when the ambulance brought me to ED, Alison Chwalibog, RN, attended to me immediately. She was extremely patient with me, as I was very nervous. She assured me, “Everything will be okay.” She was most considerate of my already “ruined” arms (from six IVs at another hospital), and knew what she was doing in getting me ready for admission. Kathryn Cate, RN, was also in attendance, and extremely professional.

After having an uncomfortable experience at another hospital, I was most grateful for the compassion and professional experience of Allison and Katherine in taking care of me in the ED. That is the reason for this letter: to thank you for excellence in care through your exemplary personnel.

Since that time, Dr. Stephen Cattaneo performed surgery on me, and I am nearly recovered. He is outstanding!

I am most appreciative of a medical care facility like AAMC. Thanks to all who helped me through this trying time.
